Radical Innovation and Exhilarating Realism: Introducing the dCS Varèse Music System

Aug 07, 2024

dCS is proud to announce the launch of the Varèse Music System, a groundbreaking new product that redefines the standards of music playback. Combining cutting-edge technology with user-friendly design, the Varèse system offers an unmatched listening experience.

A Legacy of Fidelity

For over 35 years, dCS has been dedicated to reproducing music with absolute fidelity. This commitment has driven the development of sophisticated audio technologies from the earliest digital converters to the latest product range. The Varèse Music System exemplifies this dedication, providing listeners with unparalleled detail and emotion in their music.

Comprehensive System Design

The Varèse Music System includes five key components:

  • Core
  • Two Mono DACs, one for each audio channel
  • User Interface
  • Master Clock

Additionally, the system features a dedicated remote control and the dCS Mosaic ACTUS app. A CD/SACD Transport component will be introduced in 2025.

Innovative Technologies

The Varèse system incorporates several new technologies to enhance audio performance:
  • dCS Tomix: A patented clocking technology that ensures precise timing.
  • ACTUS: An interface that carries audio, control, and timing signals between components.
  • Differential Ring DAC: An advanced version of the dCS Ring DAC™, marking a significant upgrade in DAC architecture.

These innovations, along with new circuit designs and improved power supplies, reduce jitter, increase linearity, lower the noise floor, and eliminate crosstalk.

Enhanced Listening Experience

Listeners will notice significant improvements with the Varèse Music System, including:

  • A broader, more expansive soundstage
  • Increased musicality and rhythmic flow
  • Clearer, more tangible vocals
  • Enhanced bass texture, timing, and impact
  • Improved performance at lower frequencies

These advancements create a more intimate connection between listeners and their music, offering a compelling and emotionally engaging experience.

Development and Vision

Developing the Varèse system has been a significant project for dCS. The project aimed to redesign state-of-the-art audio equipment while creating an immersive user experience.

Managing Director David Steven describes it as "the most challenging undertaking of our careers in audio."  Technical Director Andy McHarg, with over 30 years at dCS, notes that Varèse is the most complex project he has been involved in, expressing pride in the team's achievements.
