The Concept Wood AiR turntable furthers the sonic excellence of the award-winning Concept turntable. The Concept Wood AiR uses a Baltic Birch, constrained layer plinth that is both visually attractive and sonically rich and smooth. The aluminum machined sub-platter and rear-mounted fine speed adjustments are an upgrade from the original Concept design. The Concept Wood AiR Turntable is handcrafted by Clearaudio in Germany.

OVERVIEW

The Concept AiR Wood is belt-driven by a low-noise, decoupled DC motor built into the baltic birch plinth. The platter is made of 30mm-thick polymer (POM), an engineering thermoplastic with a weighted rim for increased fly-wheel effect, providing greater speed stability. The Concept Wood plays at three speeds – 33rpm, 45rpm, and 78rpm – selectable by the Electronic Speed Control knob.

The Concept Tonearm features Clearaudio's proven friction-free magnetic bearing technology, which eliminates bearing chatter and offers superior stability. The Concept tonearm's magnetic bearing allows the Concept turntable to be shipped with cartridge pre-installed and calibrated. The low mass, rigid aluminum arm tube uses a two-piece aluminum headshell with adjustable azimuth for accurate alignment of the phono cartridge and easy in-field replacement. Clearaudio’s hardwired Direct Wire tonearm cable assures signal integrity, ideal for all high-quality cartridges, including low-output moving coils.
